PART 3
EXECUTION
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Do not begin
application until substrates have been properly prepared
B.
Wood substrates:
must be dry and clean, free or all oils, grease, silicones or other bond breakers
C.
Concrete:
Must be cured at least 72 hours and free of all contaminants that affect adhesion
D.
Masonry:
cured at least 72 hours
E. Steel, Aluminum, Galvanized Metal, Stainless:
confirm substrate with manufacture to determine if a primer is required before application of the KEFA products
3.2
PREPARATION
A.
Clean all
surfaces thoroughly prior to application
B.
Remove all
surface contamination such as oils, wax, form-release agents, dust, dirt, mold, mildew, etc.
C.
Existing
Painted Surfaces: Remove loose paint that may impede bonding. Use methods that do not
damage substrate
D. Pre-clean surfaces with extreme mold or mildew contamination
that would affect the adhesion of the KEFA products to assure a good bond. Remove in accordance with manufacturer’s
recommendations
E. Prepare surfaces using manufacturer’s recommendations
F.
Protect all
adjacent surfaces and equipment not receiving KEFA from overspray
3.3
INSTALLATION
A.
Install KEFA
in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations
B.
Apply informally
by Airless spray or brush per manufacturer’s recommendations
C.
Do not apply
additional coats to surfaces that are not completely dry
D.
Apply in
uniform coats, not exceeding 15mils (dry film thickness) per coat
E.
Apply evenly
to gypsum board until the surface is wet, not to exceed 20mils (wet film thickness) per coat
F.
Apply evenly
to wood surfaces as indicated in 3.3 E
G.
On steel
or other none porous surfaces, see manufacturer’s recommendations for primer if necessary and number and thickness per
coat
H. Allow each coat to dry completely before applying
a next coat if necessary
3.4
CLEANING
A.
Clean surfaces
immediately or overspray splatter or excess material
B.
Use fresh
water to clean equipment before product dries
3.5
PROTECTION
A.
Protect installed
product until completion of project
B.
Touch-up,
repair or replace damaged product before substantial completion
3.6
SCHEDULE
A.
Apply the
specified number of coats and thickness of KEFA to the
following surfaces.
Use manufacturer’s recommendations for number of coats and dry film thickness
1.
Interior
surfaces of sheathing, gypsum board ceilings
2. Interior ceilings in kitchens, shower rooms, bathrooms,
toilet rooms, janitor closets
3. Interior surfaces of concrete, such as ceilings, walls,
basement walls, parking deck ceilings, areas subject to condensation and high humidity conditions
4.
Underside
of metal roofs, coated steel, galvanized, fiberglass roofs, corrugated and flat
5. Finished basements as well as any concrete
surfaces prone to high humidity, condensation, and mold and mildew growth
6. To encapsulate asbestos board, Transite
roofs, asbestos insulation cover
